Faithfulness

2Thesselonians 3:3  The Lord is faithful and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.

Faith is believing without seeing.  It is like the sun, that although absent from our vision at night, it always comes up each morning. God is as faithful and as powerful as the sun, penetrating the darkness in our lives.

Faithful is one who doesn't change.  Hebrews 13:5 says He will not leave you or forsake you, let you down or relax His hold on you.  He is faithful. He can't change, any more than the sun can stop shining and the earth can stop its rotation around the sun.

Faithfulness is a description of the character of faith that truly equates to love.  "I will be faithful and true" is a promise that we make to our spouse when we marry - even on days when we don't like them very much.  Faithfulness is God's very nature.

Unconditional love is faithful.  It strengthens and protects, no matter what.

Lord, help me to love unconditionally and to be faithful to those around me, strengthening and protecting through what I say and do.

Be faithful - Hang on

Hebrews 10:23 says

Hold fast the confession of our hope without waivering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds.

Being faithful is not always easy, but it always has a reward. We need to be like the Father, who I like to call Papa God (inspired from the book the Shack by Wm. Paul Young), unwaivering, trusting Him to fulfill His promises.

I need to stand firm, with God at my side and agree with my husband Michael in faith as to our future. Prosperity, not poverty, excess, not lack. He is faithful and true to His Word. And the devil is a liar!

Lord, today I lay down my life at your throne. You are in control and totally capable to do what needs to be done in my life. I step aside, turning over the reins to you. I bind in heaven:

  • anything that would block your blessings
  • sickness and disease
  • lack of discipline
  • the spirit of fear
  • the spirit of poverty
I loose in heaven:

  • contracts for work
  • online bookings on all of our websites
  • resources
  • funding
  • retiring all of our debt and obligations
  • a new book contract
  • speaking engagements
  • discipline
  • ideas
  • philanthropy
There is such freedom in knowing that my Papa cares about EVERY aspect of my life, down to the most minute detail. May this encourage you today and stimulate you to love and good deeds. Pay it forward today!

Proverbs 5 - Faithfulness in marriage

This chapter is an admonition for men to stay away from adultery. To be fair, women should as well, but Solomon knew full well that he needed to stress this to the young men first.

3-6 The lips of a seductive woman are oh so sweet,
her soft words are oh so smooth.
But it won't be long before she's gravel in your mouth,
a pain in your gut, a wound in your heart.
She's dancing down the primrose path to Death;
she's headed straight for Hell and taking you with her.
She hasn't a clue about Real Life,
about who she is or where she's going.

For those of us that are not tempted by adultery, but who are seduced by other things in our lives, we need to remember the previous chapters of Proverbs that tell us to seek Wisdom and to surround ourselves with the counsel of the wise, lest we be tempted.

Of course my favorite part is verse 18 where he encourages men to rejoice in the wife of your youth. Well, I have to be careful here, because Michael and I didn't get married until I was 33 - hardly considered a youth!

This chapter ends by reminding us that the Lord is watching and pays attention to all of our choices. Here are verses 21-23 in the New International Version.

21 For a man's ways are in full view of the LORD,
and he examines all his paths.

22 The evil deeds of a wicked man ensnare him;
the cords of his sin hold him fast.

23 He will die for lack of discipline,
led astray by his own great folly.

Lord, give us a thirst for wisdom in our choices and help us to be more disciplined in all that we do. Give us special appreciation for our spouses - a new love reminiscent of our youth.
